Researchers in Sweden have discovered that growth hormone (GH) treatment may result in the reduction of multiple metabolic disorders associated with abdominal obesity in postmenopausal women.
Preventing SCD1 expression prevents obesity
The researchers block stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 (SCD1) – and prevented obesity and development of metabolic syndrome. Blocking SCD1 also increased expression of genes involved in energy expenditure.
