Reviews of Popular Current Diet Books.
(This page leads to a diet book review for each of the most popular diets promoted publicly in recent years. These diet book reviews are written with the intention of providing objective, factual information.) Bookshop shelves are full of diet books and weight loss books. The internet, too, is full of past and current diet books online. With the growth of overweight and obesity in the western world today, everyone thinks there is a dollar to be made by publishing yet another diet book for the growing and increasingly desperate market of over weight people wishing to lose weight. The sad truth, though, is that the majority of these diet books are written by people with little or no understanding of the issues surrounding obesity. They peddle half-truths and mistruths. They offer false promise with unbalanced and sometimes downright dangerous diet fads. The bottom line, though, is that some diet books are very valuable indeed. Some give marvellous insights into human biology, health, nutrition. The best diet books go beyond merely diet and discuss other aspects of weight loss such as exercise and psychological aspects. Still, no one diet book has a monopoly on truth. I strongly recommend that dieters and their doctors and other health providers read at least six of the better diet books to improve their knowledge and understanding of weight loss, dieting and obesity causes and treatment. Related books can be found in other sections of this website (such as those specifically discussing hormonal issues), though of the less specific and more general - and more well known - diet books, my reviews and rankings are as follows: Top Recommendation

New Section - Silly Fad Diets. The Cabbage Soup Diet Review and Warning of Dangers was previously listed on this page of Diet Books. It has now been moved into the Silly Fad Diets section of this site. More past and current diet books, online or from bookshops, will be reviewed and added to this series as time progresses, so please return often. |
